Kaasi v3 is Here: A New Home, New Features, and More!

It's a big day for Kaasi! The project has continued to evolve since it was first made public, and today marks the launch of Kaasi v3, a major update that brings a new home, new features, and a clearer vision for the future. Let's dive into what's new.

A New Home: Kaasi.com.lk

The biggest news is that Kaasi has a new, official home! We've moved from the old GitHub page to a proper domain: kaasi.com.lk.

Alongside the app, I've launched a full website to be the central hub. Here you'll find:

  • Info about Kaasi: For those just discovering the app, you can now find all the information about what Kaasi is and the features it offers.
  • The Blog: You're reading it right now! This is where I'll share financial insights, app updates, and guides to help you master your money.
  • What's Next: A dedicated section outlining the planned features for the future, so you always know what's on the roadmap.

What's New in the App?

This update isn't just about the website. The app itself has also received some significant improvements.

Track Daily Expense Fluctuations

While the chart showing your monthly expenses over the last year is still there, you can now toggle to a new 'daily expense fluctuation graph'. This new view shows the flow of your spending within the current month, making it much easier to see how your expenses change from day to day.

Credit Card History Filter

Easily keep track of what you have paid already and have left to pay in the credit card history without clutter with the help of the new filters; letting you choose between all/unpaid/paid transactions.

Quality of Life Improvements

I've also focused on a number of smaller fixes and improvements to make your day-to-day experience smoother:

  • Fixed several minor bugs and text inconsistencies.
  • Improved how the app handles long descriptions for transactions, preventing text overflow.
  • Added a footer with useful links and information.

Supporting Kaasi's Future

Kaasi will always remain free to use. That's a core promise. However, building and maintaining the app, especially with the high cost of the AI subscriptions used in its development, does have its expenses.

If you find Kaasi helpful and want to support its continued development, I've now added an option to make a donation. Any amount is deeply appreciated and goes directly towards making the app better for everyone.

Your feedback is what shapes the future of Kaasi. If you have feature requests or recommendations, please don't hesitate to send me a message on Instagram at @aanjelo.s or drop me an email at aanjelo99@gmail.com.

Thank you for being part of this journey. I'm excited to continue building a tool that makes managing our කාසි simpler for all of us in Sri Lanka.
